While not much is better than BBQ, family, friends and fun on Memorial Day, the unofficial kick off of summer, the day serves a very distinct and poignant purpose. Memorial Day, once declared Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those that died in service of the United States of America.

Mayfield Heights will host their annual Memorial Day Service on Monday May 30th at 10:00 AM. Join us for this heartwarming service that features posting of colors, Guest Speaker Babe Kwasniak, a speech recited by some of our wonderful students from Lander Elementary School, a demonstration from our Police Chief, a 21 gun salute and messages from our mayor and council president. The service is located on Chelmsford Road outside by our Roll of Honor, directly located by the side parking lot of City Hall and the Police Department .

So before you sit at the table to eat ribs, hot dogs and other typical good old American food, put that first volley in the air, or settle in with your favorite beverage, start your festivities off by honoring those that made this occasion possible.
