NEW - Spring 1st & 10 Flag Football

The City of Mayfield Heights Parks and Recreation is partnering with NFL Flag and NFL Play 60 to update our 1st & 10 Flag Football league. This league is for kids in K-1, 2-3 or 4-5 grades.

Each child will have fun and learn the basics of flag football - including offensive and defensive formation and plays, flag pulling and more. Each child will be placed on a team and receive a NFL jersey and flag.

Each session will consist of skills and drills, agility, teaching aspects of the game, followed by a non-competitive game for the younger ages and a competitive game for the older ages.

Parents are encouraged to volunteer to coach. All coaches will be provided with practice plans, drills and other aides from the NFL Flag football website.

Saturday mornings. Practices are on March 11 & 18. Games run from March 25th through April 22nd. Times are as follows - K-1 11:00 - 11:55; 2-3 12:00 - 12:55; 4-5 1:00 - 1:55.

Cost is $55 per child.
Registration begins on January 23rd for all Mayfield School District residents and February 13th for all others.

Little Sluggers

New Format!!
Due to overwhelming responses, we are adding to our already popular Little Sluggers program. We are adding an additional session. Your child will get the chance to keep playing or a child can just do the second session if that works better for your schedule.

Parent and child will work together with the staff the weeks leading up to the games doing various exercises to develop skills in catching, throwing, and hitting. Drills are fun based but necessary to help grow your child's baseball skills and develop hand-eye coordination. Teams will be formed and the kids, along with the parents, will play 3 weeks of baseball games. Parents will play next to their child; run the bases with them after they hit; play the field with them & tell them where to throw the ball. All participants will bring their own glove.

Session 1 Dates:
Practice - Thursdays May 4 - 18 -- 6:15 - 7:00 PM
Games - Thursdays May 25 - June 8 -- Start Time 6:15 or 7:00

Session 2 Dates:
Practice - Thursdays June 15 & 22 -- 6:15 - 7:00 PM
Games - Thursdays June 29 - July 13 -- Start Time 6:15 or 7:00

Registration stops at 40 per session. Registration begins on March 6th.

Cost:
Session 1 -- $45 for Franklin bat and ball and team shirt; $40 for team shirt
Session 2 -- $40 for Franklin bat and ball and team shirt; $35 for team shirt; $30 for repeat participant from session 1

Red Devil Soccer

The City of Mayfield Heights Parks and Recreation is proud to bring back our introductory soccer league program, Red Devil Soccer. This league will be for boys and girls aged 3-6 years old. Each child will have fun and learn the basics of soccer: dribbling, passing, trapping, shooting, offense, defense, throw-ins, and more. Each session will consist of skills and drills, agility, teaching aspects of the game, followed by a non-competitive game. Parents are encouraged to volunteer to coach. All coaches will be provided with practice plans, drills, and other aides to help instruct the children.

We offer 2 age levels, one for 3 and 4 year olds and another for 5 and 6 year olds.

Saturday mornings from April 22 - May 27. 3-4 year olds at 10:00 - 10:50 and 5-6 year olds at 11:00 - 11:50.

Registration begins on March 6th for Mayfield School District residents and March 20th for all others.

Cost is $50 and includes jersey, shorts, socks - with built in shin guards, and a ball.
